27 Years long journey of MVSD

MVSD in the year 1991

Gurgaon was far from the glittering Metropolis it is today. The Maruti Suzuki factory which ushered in the revolution in passenger cars in India had opened its factory in Gurgaon in 1983, which had started Gurgaon on the road to Industrialization. About 50-60 migrant Bengali families from various parts of India (especially West Bengal) had joined Maruti in search of livelihood. Settled in Maruti Vihar, the first colony set up for Maruti workforce, a motley group of about 25 Bengali families who had been allotted houses in this colony, were missing Durga Puja, the major Social festival in Bengali culture. They formed Maruti Vihar Sarbojanin Durgotsav & started the first Durga Puja in 1991. In order to bolster the numbers, they roped in other members from nearby areas of Chandralok, Saraswati Vihar, Sushant Lok & DLF. The MVSD journey had begun.

MVSD in the year 2015

Over the years MVSD has grown in strength, popularity, and recognition. It has got great appreciation and support from the Haryana Government as well as from various organizations.

Honorable Sports Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Kataria has been visiting our Durga Puja mandap as Guest of Honour for the last several years and has also distributed prizes for various events.

MVSD in the year 2016

In the year 2016 MVSD has showcased the Tourist Destination of Bengal through the Theme "Let's go Bengal". MVSD was invited all to experience the Tourism, Culture, and Tradition of Bengal. During Puja, visitors experienced the aroma of Bengal through the Puja Mondop, ambiance, and rich cultural program. Our team handed over donation as a gift to underprivileged children with the kind help of well known NGO. Also, we extended our arm and helped our social friends who help us to take care of the cleanliness of our neighborhood.

MVSD in the year 2017

This year MVSD has planned to display the Culture, Handicrafts & Tourist Destination "Land of Red Soil" part of Bengal through the Theme "COLO JAI RANGA MATIR DESHE".

To mark the 25th Year celebrations, MVSD has embarked on executing the first Theme Puja to be witnessed not only in Gurgaon but also in Delhi-NCR.

MVSD brings a Theme Puja we have christened, India-Let Her Live: Save the Girl Child. Through this Theme, we wish to bring forth a burning social problem in Haryana & North India – Sex Determination & Killing the Girl Child in the Womb (Female Foeticide).

Browse through our Silver Jubilee Page to know how we intend to unfold this Theme and our plans to promote this Main Event : Durga Puja 2015 through a series of Pre-Events like T-shirt Design Competition, A Run to Save The Girl Child starting in July & a series of other Activities throughout, culminating in a Grand Musical Extravaganza on the Puja days.
